FBD Timer — Privacy policy
Controller and contact
FBD Timer is published under the FatBatDadStudio brand. Responsible person and data controller: Sami Hiltunen. Contact: [email protected]. Updated 6 November 2026 (FBD Timer 0.7.1). This policy covers the Android phone/tablet app and its Wear OS companion.
Local data
Timer settings, language, custom exercises, workout programs and favourites are stored in the app’s private device storage to provide the features you choose. There is no app account, advertising, analytics or studio cloud storage. No automatic crash-report upload is integrated. Android and Google Play may process their own diagnostics according to their settings.
Heart rate and device connection
Optional heart rate is processed with the explicit consent described above. Sensor permission alone does not replace app consent. Heart rate and sample time are held in app memory only; stale readings disappear. A joint watch/phone workout sends the selected program name, exercises, timing, workout state and controls, connection node identifiers and temporary session identifiers. Google Play services Wearable Data Layer transports this information by Bluetooth or Google cloud relay, depending on connectivity. FatBatDadStudio does not operate that relay or receive your heart rate or programs on its own server. Google handles its service data under its terms: https://policies.google.com/privacy . Avoid unnecessary health details in program names.
Music and notification access
Music controls are optional. Android notification access allows the app to find active media sessions. FBD Timer uses the track title, artist, artwork, player name and playback state locally for display and controls. It does not read, store or transmit message contents or other notification contents. Media information is not retained or sent to a studio server. Revoke access in Android notification-access settings.
Support, legal bases and retention
Sending feedback opens your email app. No message is sent automatically and no programs, heart-rate readings or logs are attached. If you send a message, Sami Hiltunen processes your email address, message and attachments you add to resolve the support request on the basis of legitimate interests (GDPR 6(1)(f)). Optional heart-rate processing relies on consent (6(1)(a), and where applicable 9(2)(a)); local settings and programs provide the app function you request (6(1)(b)). Do not send health information or other people’s personal data in support messages. Support messages are retained while needed to handle the matter and any related claims; unnecessary messages and attachments are deleted. Support uses Gmail; processing can occur outside the EEA under Google’s terms and transfer safeguards. The app does not make automated decisions about people or profile users.
Deletion, withdrawal and rights
Delete your custom programs and exercises in the app. Clearing app storage or uninstalling removes local data and consent; do this separately on phone and watch. This also deletes your own programs. The app does not request Android cloud backup; copies made with manufacturer transfer tools are under your control. Use the withdrawal button in this screen on the watch to withdraw heart-rate consent. Withdrawal does not affect prior lawful processing. Request access, correction, deletion, restriction or applicable portability of your support data at [email protected]; you may object to processing based on legitimate interests. The studio cannot access your device’s local data. You may complain to a data-protection authority; in Finland: https://tietosuoja.fi/en .
External services and changes
Opening an external licence or privacy link takes you to your browser, where the website operator handles connection data under its own practices. The app does not fetch these pages in the background. Changes to data use will be described and any required consent obtained before that processing begins.
Optional heart-rate measurement
FBD Timer reads the watch heart-rate sensor, displays heart rate on the watch and sends heart rate and the measurement time to connected FBD Timer devices. Google Play services transports the data over Bluetooth or through Google cloud relay, depending on connectivity. After your consent and sensor permission, measurement starts automatically while FBD Timer is visible on the watch or connected phone. An active or paused workout can keep measurement running with the screen off. Measurement stops when the apps are in the background and no workout is active. Heart rate stays in memory only; it is not sent to a studio server or saved as workout history. Consent is optional; the timer works without heart rate. Withdraw consent under About, privacy and licences and revoke sensor permission in device settings.
